Advising visionary leaders shaping the future of their communities to build sustainable, resilient, and thriving places
We apply science-based regenerative practice and systems innovation to help councils, destinations, and organisations deliver place-based change that protects the environment and ensures long-term prosperity, grounded in community values.

We use regenerative approaches and systems innovation to build liveable, resilient communities — and here's why
Regions across Australia and the world face similar challenges: rapid population growth, a changing climate, increased resource demands, changing community expectations, and a complex statutory environment.
Business-as-usual approaches to how we live, work, and solve challenges no longer best serve our communities.
Regenerative approaches offers a practical way to respond. It brings together systems innovation, community engagement, environmental stewardship, and real-world testing to drive practical, place-based change.
With 30+ years of combined experience in community development, sustainability and environmental social science, Intego helps place leaders take regenerative placemaking from theory to practice — building liveable, connected, and resilient communities and places.
Our work is defined by three core services
We house a Think Tank, Impact Studio, and Learning Lab to deliver a range of services — broadly across research, strategy and education — to support informed decision-making, planning, and development for regenerative, place-based change.
We design and analyse place-based research and community engagement data to reveal what matters and support evidence-based decisions.
We turn data into place-based plans, policies, and strategies that align community values and priorities, place potential and environmental stewardship.
We deliver practical education that builds skills and capability in sustainability, regenerative practices and climate action for place leaders and communities.
We work with...
We partner with place leaders and decision-makers — those responsible for shaping the long-term social, environmental and economic futures of regions, communities and destinations — including:
Local and regional governments
Council teams working across planning, community development, sustainability, infrastructure, economic development and place-based policy.
Tourism and economic development organisations
Destination managers, tourism organisations and regional development bodies influencing tourism, development, infrastructure and natural assets.
Non-profits, NGOs, and community groups
NGO, community groups, and organisations delivering programs tied to community wellbeing, environmental protection and positive social change.
...Helping them solve these problems
Time and time again, our clients tell us they struggle with the below challenges. Sound familiar? Flip the cards to learn how we help you solve them.
"We want to deliver sustainability education but lack knowledge, resources, and time to do so."
We design and deliver education programs, workshops, and courses that build real capability for both place leaders and communities. Our work supports continuous learning and skills development in sustainability, regenerative practices, and climate action.
"We’re expected to engage communities, but struggle to design effective engagement and act on what we hear."
We design and deliver fit-for-purpose community engagement and place-based research, then translate community input into robust evidence that informs planning, investment and policy decisions and delivers better shared outcomes for people and nature.
"We lack a clear, place-based strategy to align priorities and guide decisions."
Using regenerative placemaking, we help develop and deliver evidence-led, place-based policies, plans and programs that contribute to making regions great places to live, learn, work and play sustainably.
"Social, environmental and economic priorities are connected, but decisions are made in silos."
By applying the principles of regenerative placemaking, we design place-based research, engagement and strategy that works with place as a living system, contributing to interconnected outcomes, rather than one-off or siloed results.
“We need to demonstrate progress, but don’t have clear measures for what matters."
We design social impact and performance measurement frameworks to measure success, ensuring alignment with community expectations, regenerative, place-based indicators, and social and economic outcomes unique to place.
“We’re delivering important work, but it’s not always understood or supported."
We design strategic communications — including reports, briefings, presentations and public-facing materials — that clearly communicate evidence, intent and outcomes to communities, partners and decision-makers.
We specialise in
Environment, sustainability, and climate change
Community development and liveability
Visitor economy, tourism and destination management
Stakeholder and community engagement
Environmental and social research
Planning and regenerative placemaking
All of our work is guided by regenerative principles and frameworks grounded in academic research.
We use a four-phase process, RISE, to deliver place-based solutions
RISE brings together our Think Tank, Impact Studio and Learning Lab services to help place leaders move from ambition to action.
We start by gathering and interpreting data.
We then use the uncovered insights to create or inform evidence-led and regenerative, place-based interventions.
Finally, we support communication and learning, so decisions are understood, trusted and delivered, backed by decision-makers, stakeholders, and communities.
You can engage at any phase, or across the full journey.
